Portrait of Victoria Vasilyeva

About

Victoria Vasilyeva

I'm Victoria — Vika to my people. I grew up in Gravesend, Brooklyn, between Gravesend and Coney Island, with parents from different cultural backgrounds, and I learned early to value the intersection of communities that shaped my identity. Ukrainian festivals, music, Cossack traditions — they keep pushing my belief in belonging beyond textbook borders. I've been making music for as long as I can remember: piano first, then guitar.

I came to EcoPower '26 because I wanted to actually do something, not just learn about doing something. My tracks were Community & Civic and Environmental & Data, which meant I was thinking about both the people and the systems — who gets left behind, what the data shows, and what you do with that combination.

I'm someone who notices things. Who was in that film. Who's not being accounted for. What the news gets wrong. My art teacher Deji is studying in Germany and I wanted him at our Report Back. That's the kind of person I am — I think about who should be in the room.
